Swim Week!

Dear Parents of Highcroft Students in Grades 2-5:

Next week, Monday, March 16- Friday, March 20, Highcroft students in grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be attending PE classes at the Blake pool on the Hopkins Campus as part of the Highcroft Physical Education program.

This week in the pool allows us to:

• Encourage swimming skills and techniques
• Practice water safety skills and basic rescues
• Identify students who would benefit from more exposure and/or swim lessons
• Develop physical fitness
• Have fun together in our Blake community facility

Bus service will be provided and an adult will accompany the students on the bus. Students will need to bring a swimsuit and a towel. Any special personal equipment (i.e., goggles, nose plugs, or ear plugs) is optional. No flippers, snorkels or full face masks are allowed, except on Friday. Students will be changing in the locker room, which will be supervised by the adults.

*Special Note for Parents of 2nd Grade Students: Students will use the visiting team locker rooms. Mr. Rosenberg or Mr. Shelp will be assisting and monitoring the 2nd grade boys as they change into their suits and Mrs. Bartkowicz will be assisting the 2nd grade girls.

For many students this will be their first experience in a locker room setting. We will be spending time in class before we go to Hopkins talking about changing clothes, showering and behavior in a locker room setting. There will be an adult in the locker room at all times, but please notify us if anything arises during the week so that we can address it with the students.

No jewelry is allowed in the pool area. There isn’t a place to lock up valuables in the locker room. Please remind your child to leave all valuables and jewelry either at home or at the Highcroft campus. This includes watches, rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.
